What an exciting, interesting jam packed time we are having in Istria. We were extremely lucky to enjoy a lovely boat ride over to the island of Brijuni. This is where Tito built his personal summer residence where he resided for six months of the year. It is now a national park that still houses this residence. It is also home to an animal safari that is occupied by exotic animals that were gifted to Tito by other world leaders, a golf course, a museum in Tito’s honour, old Roman ruins, the remains of an old zoo and a very fancy and expensive hotel. While on the island we had a lovely train ride around stopping at and seeing all of these sights.

After returning from Brijuni, it was game time, and what a night. We may not have got the result we wanted and Croatia may not have won the World Cup but it certainly was a party here. What an experience it was for us to be fully immersed in the atmosphere!
