Facilities

Members Lounge (1st Floor) :

Our Members’ Lounge has seating for 100 people and has its own kitchen and bar. Other features include two pool tables and a 42inch LCD TV.
This area is used by Members for social gatherings Friday evenings, when a good selection of meals are available, including a range of coffees, teas and snacks. At the bar there is an extensive range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available, including a selection of wines from Dalmatian Winemakers and others. There is an outdoor seating area on the terrace, where both smokers and non-smokers can enjoy the fresh air, which is never that cold, even in the middle of winter.
This facility is also used by members on most Sundays, as well as for special monthly meetings hosted by the Dalmatian Genealogical & Historical Society.
Members and non-members are able to hire the Members’ Lounge for private functions, such as weddings and 21st’s. A small dance floor is available should this be required.
This facility is available for members for after funeral functions for deceased members, at no charge

Dalmatian Ballroom (1st Floor):

Our prestigious Ballroom measures 17m x 30m, with a seating capacity of 330 with tables and chairs to suit.
Facilities include a stage 6m x 2.5m, sound system, air-conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen that can cater for any number of guests, and a bar with a full selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
There is a sprung dance floor, which measures 10m x 8m – possibly the largest in Auckland. The d�cor is most appealing with vibrant colours.
Members and non-members are able to hire the Ballroom for weddings, 21st’s, conferences and meetings.
Members use this facility most Friday, Sunday and Monday evenings for folklore dance tuition.
Regular Society socials are also held in the Ballroom.

Language Classroom (Ground Floor):

On the ground floor is located a classroom set up for tuition of Croatian /Hrvatski language. Classes are limited to about 16 per lesson. Lessons are available every Friday evening from a competent tutor in Croatian/ Hrvatski.

Choir Classroom (Ground Floor):

The Choir classroom which is also located on the ground floor has its own room with excellent acoustics and can accommodate about 30 singers.
There is an appointed choir-mistress who gives lessons every Friday evening.

Tamburica & Piano Accordion Classroom (Ground Floor):

Also on the ground floor is located a room, with good acoustics where tuition and practices are held most Friday evenings with two excellent tutors.

Library (Ground Floor):

The Society has an excellent Library on the ground floor where members are able to borrow books and magazines in English and Serbo – Croatian. The library is open most Friday evenings with our librarian in attendance. The library is always on the lookout for books relating to any the countries that made up the former Yugoslavia and any donations of the same are always welcome.

Museum & Archives (Ground Floor):

The Museum & Archives occupies a large portion of the ground floor and is open most Friday evening and Monday mornings and by appointment. Full details are noted separately on this site

Costume Room (Ground Floor):

A large range of folklore costumes, that cover most regions of the former Yugoslavia is housed on the ground and cared for by a very competent wardrobe mistress.

Secretary’s Office (Ground Floor):

This office is usually open on Friday evenings to members and visitors who need to meet with the Secretary on matters relating to the Society, and for those wishing to take out membership.

Treasurer’s Office (Ground Floor):

This office is usually open on Friday evenings to members for payment of dues or for other miscellaneous payments or business relating to membership.
