By 1940\, their thriving community in central Auckland\, with over 700 residents\, became a bustling cultural hub for not only the Dalmatians but also for those in South and West Auckland\, and even Northland. On Victoria\, Wellesley\, Nelson\, Hobson\, and Queen streets\, Dalmatian-run businesses like fish shops\, cafes\, and general stores created a vibrant local atmosphere\, while two cultural clubs on Hobson Street became gathering spots for music\, dance\, games\, and community bonding.
